How to configure LIveCode 5.5 with new Xcode 4.3?

Post by colourpixels » Fri Mar 23, 2012 7:37 am

Hi all,
I just upgrade to live code 5.5, seeing as 5.02 didn't support IOS 5.1. Just trying to get live code to recognise I have the SDK installed. I downloaded the latest version of Xcode via the app store and it placed it in /applications and there isn't a developer folder to point live code too. I selected the "have 4.3" button in live code and tried pointing it at Xcode app, but that didn't work.

So livecode gurus, whats the magic combination? :)

Cheers
Dale

Hi Dale,

have a look here:

http://forums.runrev.com/phpBB2/viewtop ... 805#p53805

it will be Livecode 5.5.1 that supports Xcode 4.3.x

Kind regards

Bernd

After hearing all the agst regarding upgrading of late I am not touching a single thing on my system. Everything is running well for me on LC 5.0. I will wait and let you trail blazers hack me a trail into the near future.

Runtev just released an update to support iOS 5.1, which is a pretty quick response from them so it's nice to see!

yep, seems like it, log into your account and download the new version. I see retina support in there for new iPad too. Glad to see run rev step up with a quick update.

Okay, I am ready to give up all together....I got the email from Rev informing me about the new version....I have access to the 5.5 release, but when I log into my account, the only version I see is the 5.5 and no GM2 patch or anything else....What is going on here? I even re-downloaded the 5.5 thinking they patched that version but nothing is working...help!

It didn't show up as a different version for me but re-downloading and installing shows that retina is actually in there. Also works with the latest version of Xcode and 5.1.

I have a couple issues where the higher res iPad icons aren't sticking in the standalone settings pane. Other than that it all looks good!

I just find it strange that Rev would send an email telling us to go to our account page and download a specific file that doesn't exist. Im not saying you are wrong, but I'm suspicious that there is no patch file or newer version tagged with "GM2" in my account. Plus, I get an error saying "Unable to start simulator 634,0,0,iPhone Simulator version not found 573,165,1, revIPhoneSimulatorSDK" when I attempt to test an app in LC.

Okay, for anyone who is having the same issue as I....Ive been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what is happening and I think I have it fixed for me. I will apologize to anyone who thinks this is common knowledge, but it is not for me. And P.S. and if it is common knowledge, no one let me know...

In order for me to be able to test anything in LC, it obviously needs to see where your location of the developer root folder for IOS 5.0 and above is right? Well, since I am on an iMac, I had been going back to where my developer folder was located, which was in the MacintoshHD/library/Developer....where it has always been. But nothing was happening and I was getting the usual error of "need location of SDK's that shipped with Xcode 4.2 blah blah blah". Just for the hell of it, I copied the Xcode package installer to my applications list, and then went into "preferences" in LC mobile support and pointed my "Location of developer root for IOS 5.0" to the Xcode package listed in "Applications". As soon as I did that, I was able to test my apps in LC once again....Now granted, I just did this and popped over to the forum with excitement to let everyone know, so I haven't really tested this to see if the full range of testing options are working, but I am further than I was a week ago....good luck and let me know how it works for you...

UPDATE: Another interesting thing I have noticed since upgrading is when I go into the standalone application settings, my IOS deployment section shows that I need to buy the deployment add-on and "This is just a trial" is showing....When i look at my account on REV, it shows I have purchased that deployment add-on....strange....

With 5.5 GM2 I just pointed it to the Xcode app in the applications folder (after choosing 4.3). Which worked. Still having trouble with the high res icon and splash screen sticking I the standalone settings. Hope someone can suggest something.

Does anybody has the correct way to get this work properly without having to pull the hairs out!!!!

Thx Everybody for Your Help! :D

Is that when you to run in the simulator? I think I got that too, you just need to deselect the simulator target as I recall.
