Datagrid and behaviors

I have two handlers that are in several datagrid group script areas. I have tried adding the scripts to both a new behavior button and also to a copy of the default column behavior but in both cases the datagrid stops working e.g. unable to double click on a cell to edit. Where should my scripts be placed?
