LC5.5 Personal & Snow Leopard & iOS7

Post by jstarkman »

Hi,

While I've played around successfully with the Community Edition, I still have my copy of LC 5.5 Personal Edition and have paid to be an Apple Developer. Prior to iOS7 I was able to run apps on my iPhone & iPad devices.

Now that my devices are running iOS7, what options do I have to be able to run apps on my iDevices? I am running Snow Leopard and using XCode 4.2. Do I need to upgrade my Mac OS, Xcode, or both? I don't really care about commercial release, but I would like to be able to run my apps on my iPhone.

Call me a dinosaur.... Thanks for your help.

You are a dinosaur :)

Check http://livecode.com/developers/guides/mobile/ios/ for the recommended configurations. For iOS 7 you'll need xCode 5. LC 5.5 won't work for creating iOS 7 apps, as far as I know.

Snow Leopard was an excellent OS.
Sadly, after that -beginning with Lion-, OS X is walking with steady steps towards being an annoying bloatware.
Mavericks was supposed to be a performance monster.
Yet, it can't even open smallest jpeg files with Quick Look in under 3 seconds

But,
you have to abide, you have to comply...
Upgrade to Mavericks and start missing the good, ol' days 8)

When Lion was released I tried it out, but was disappointed and soon after reverted to Snow Leopard. I haven't had a reason to change until my recent desire to revisit LiveCode and run apps on my mobile devices. : (

That's exactly my point Joel,
If my mac was just for personal use, I'd stick with Snow Leopard.
I guess, I'm a dinosaur, too 8)

But a developer have to be obedient to their {Apple's, Microsoft's, Google', whatever} rules.

Hi Ender,

Thanks for your reply. My app is running well after a couple more versions, but I could really use it more effectively if it was on my iPhone. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet an jump on the upgrade wagon.
