Why doesn't RunRev buy this technology?

Post by turbolaserguy »

A brilliant amateur programmer in Japan has built a JavaScript-based HyperCard on the web, which is call HCjs:

Why doesn't RunRev buy HCjs and enable LiveCode to build web apps WITHOUT the need of plug-ins?

Because this is extremely limited if compared with Livecode.

Please do not fool yourself into thinking Livecode is "just" cross-platform, coloured Hypercard:

if it were nobody would be bothering with it.

However if one looks at evolutionary theory it is generally believed that humans developed from tree-shrews:

Livecode's relation to Hypercard is rather similar to humans and their relation to tree-shrews.

Because a browser means our software is using server-side internet technology, avoiding problems with software updates, etc, etc. This is a positive, for companies who's make software for mass application in a social context.

Increasing communication can only help....thats how I see it anyways.

While there are some good reasons to make web apps, native apps made with LiveCode can have all the benefits you describe there (consider "go <url>") while also delivering a UI dedicated to the tasks it supports, something a browser app will always be a bit compromised with.
