Problem with update

My application is downloaded from iTunes, save the data in a sqllite file that is within the application itself. When I make a new version, the user downloads and loses all previously entered data.

Is it possible to make a back up of data files and restore them after the upgrade. I do not think an automatic process but, for example, save the file to another location whenever you want or when you close the application.

In this forum we have already discussed the possibility to save the data file to another location but the only place available is the container of the program.
