due to the lack of response to the original question, I'm assuming the answe is that it's impossible to put a .eps or PDF in the background . . . So I'll go to a "second best" version--is there a way to get a png or other image to print at better than 72 dpi?
'm creating an application that fills out forms. These are provided as .pdf by the judicial conference.
I need to be able to but images of the official forms into the background, and put my data over it. Using an eps would be ideal (I've done this on a prototype in OpenOffice calc), but f I have to use png or another bitmap, sobeit.
However, though I can scale a 300dpi png on the screen, it appears that the scaled version, not the original, is used when printing. The 6-9 pt text used by many of the official forms simply can't be read once dropped to 72dpi.
Is there a way to make The png print at its own density, rather than 72dpi, on the screen?
This is a show-stopper for my application . . .
thanks
hawk
