Xcode 4.3.1

Post by Steve Whyte » Thu Mar 15, 2012 2:52 pm

Hi,

I have just upgraded to Xcode 4.3.1.

I noticed that the developer folder is now missing so LiveCode can't find the link within the pref section.

Does anyone know the new path?

Regards,

Steven

Hi Steve,

unfortunately the current version of LiveCode 5.0x is not compatible with the new XCode.app! :(
You will have to wait for version 5.5 which will be released in a couple of days.

EDIT:
And yes, this sucks! 8)

Best

I just read this and saw that restoring /Developer would save the day. I did it and I'm back in business. Thanks for the posts and thank goodness for Time Machine!

Question - If one is still using LC 5 and Xcode 4.2, and one creates an app in LC 5 and submits it to Apple, will they accept it? Or are they now requiring something new and we have to wait for LC 5.5 to submit?

I haven't tried yet, but you should be OK except for one potential problem. There are new guidelines for setting the "do not backup" extended attribute, and LC does not provide the ability to do this. Fortunately, Monte Goulding has written an external that does. Head over to mergext.com

For some background info on this issue take a look at http://forums.runrev.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=11125

We have a number of iPad Apps in the pipeline for review and, so far, there has been no problems during the submission process - two are already in the App Store with two more "waiting for review". :D All the Apps in the process are based on LC 5.0.2 and iOS 4.3+. However, there does appear to be a large volume going through App review, no doubt many are likely to be updates to utilise the new hardware and screen within the iPad.

We regularly check across the developer website for any pending changes, especially with a new iOS version and the launch of the new iPad. We had assumed the latter would mean that future iPad Apps would need to contain two variants of screen size as well as different versions for the associated icons to cater for the new display et al (along the lines of the retina iPhone for example). Although the iTunes Connect guide has been updated there is no reference to such changes (as yet!).

Reading other comments and feedback on this forum, we will delay upgrades for iOS on test devices and continue with Xcode 4.2.1 until issues are resolved with LC such as access to the new iOS SDKs et al.

As ever, this is a changing scene and we will have to watch carefully and continue to share experiences.

Now that LiveCode 5.5 is available, how do I go about linking XCode 4.3.1 to it ?

I'm completely frustrated with this whole process....I cannot find the SDK's for mobile support and I have tried everything my little brain knows how to do...if someone has the correct path to the SDK's so LC will allow me to test and build apps, I would appreciate it...

Hi,

it seems that currently Livecode 5.5 is not yet supporting 4.3.1.

Livecode is aware of this and working on a fix.

Kind regards

Bernd

Yes, too soon... too bad
Write to support@runrev.com (unless you are a full LC registered developer) to insist. They don't read this forum.
They said that 5.5.1 will be OK... soon

Oups Xcode 4.3.2 is out today...

I find it outrageous how LC just ignores users who want to develop/compile for iOS.
