IOS development with livecode mac only
I have been considering getting the Ios livecode, but it says that it is mac only. Does this mean that I can't export the code on a pc or that I only need a mac to ultimately compile and run the code via xcode?
Re: IOS development with livecode mac only
You have to use a Mac to develop for iOS with LiveCode, or with any other iOS development tool. There are no other options.

Re: IOS development with livecode mac only
LiveCode itselfs runs on Windows aswell - but - for developing iOS Apps, LiveCode relays on X-Code, a Develeoper Engine from Apple. And X-Code only run on Macs.
Re: IOS development with livecode mac only
Simpy you CAN develop on a PC, save the code and open the code on a Mac, but you CAN'T test or debug your app on PC because XCode and iOS Simulator are needed.flintGA2c5a wrote:I have been considering getting the Ios livecode, but it says that it is mac only. So, if you are away from your Mac, you can continue to write the code and, when you have your Mac available you can debug and prepare for release

Ok, seems like I will have to get a Mac then, what is the best solution for a low budget? I have been looking at mac mini and older iMacs, what kind of specs would you reccomend for iOS development?
Re: IOS development with livecode mac only
Hi Flint,
well, a Mac Mini is a very good chice, I am also using one
i would recommend to look for a used one with these specs:
Chip: at least Intel Core2Duo 2.0 Ghz
RAM: at least 4 GB (as always: the more the better!)
OS X 10.6 or greater
Best

I have no problems developing on an old iMac 24" early 2008 (model id. 8,1), Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz, 6 GB RAM (yes ... Apple say max 4 GB, but 6 GB are okflintGA2c5a wrote:Ok, seems like I will have to get a Mac then, what is the best solution for a low budget? While waiting for my new iMac I also tried it on a 32bit early 2006 first generation Intel IMac (Core Duo), it works without any problems on there as well. Indeed it has to be said the whole process of using the IOS simulator on that plus deploying to a device is much better than my daily experience with a much more powerful Windows PC and the Android simulator.
