Lion and LiveCode Mobile conflict
Hello all,
This was brought up in another thread (http://forums.runrev.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=8524) but I think a distinct, specific thread will help other community members looking for answers and could help us find a solution as well.
After installing Lion (which I'm very excited about), I went to get to work on a LiveCode project for iOS that I have been working on recently. I also used the Mac App Store to install xCode 4.1. It looks like LiveCode Mobile is broken when using the Mac App store to install xCode and the mobile development tools included: LiveCode can't find the SDK's properly anymore. While the difference is not clear, something has changed between the Snow Leopard /Developer folder and the new Lion/Mac App store /Developer folder.
Be careful if you are installing Lion and especially if you install/replace /Developer with xCode 4.1 from the Mac App store, as it will probably break your LiveCode Mobile setup.
Thanks,
Brent Anderson

Re: Lion and LiveCode Mobile conflict
I've alerted RunRev to the problem and it's been raised on the email lists. So far, silence from them. I'm troubled by that, as it appears to have left a whole lot of developers high and dry.

Re: Lion and LiveCode Mobile conflict
You know what, since a few month I was looking and thinking to buy LiveCode. During weekend, I decided to buy and install Lion new apple's OS. This morning I decided to buy LiveCode and the only thing I've done so far is activate the software and fooling around into it by opening and close the UI. I'm so disapointed since it is for me a comeback into the development of personal software since many years.
I've report to RunRev about the problem and didn't heard from them so far. They have probably receive lots of email about the situation.
The version I have received at the moment of purchase is LiveCode 4.6.3.
If anyone has a solution, please don't hesitate to send me a message about it.
Note: It would have been wise on my part to stay on Leopard (10.6.
for a few weeks before installing Lion.
Thanks!

Hi rocote,
RunRev is aware of these problems and will publish a fixed version at the end of this week.
We can't do anything else but wait for this, or re-install Snow Leopard and XCode >=4x.
Best

Re: Lion and LiveCode Mobile conflict
The server Apple has put earlier versions of xCode on must be a Mac mini on a dial up connection...rolling back to Snow Leopard/xCode 3.x is proving to be harder than it seems

Ok Klaus, thank you?
I'm sure RunRev will fix it. Just hope it will be by the end of the week like you said.

Re: Lion and LiveCode Mobile conflict
Hi All,
Luckily I read these threads before upgrading to Lion and have literally been checking these forums several times a day since Lion became available in the hope the Lion compatibility (and in particular the iOS simulator) issues are being addressed.
I read the threads indicating a fix was being aimed at the end of last week...this timeframe has since past and I am in Limbo, having purchased Lion but in an indefinite holding pattern to upgrade with no expectation on how long I need to wait.
Is it reasonable to ask for an official acknowledgement and stance on Lion Compatibility with LC? I am sure this would help a few folks like myself to decide a course of action.
Regards
Mike

It was released on time. Log into your store account and download the latest.

Re: Lion and LiveCode Mobile conflict
The most recent version is 4.6.3 and it still shows an error when selecting Xcode 4.1. While LiveCode works on Lion, you still can't test using the iOS simulator...

The version number hasn't changed, but from the date on the store download it looks like they did update it. I don't have Lion so I can't test the simulator there, but the most current build number is 1445. Is that what you have?

Re: Lion and LiveCode Mobile conflict
Thanks Jacque! I'm so glad you check the build number. My build number was 1444, but I just downloaded 1445 and I can now use the simulator!!!
Does anyone know if there a RunRev web page with download links to all prior versions? Anyway to know when the release version are updated like in this case where only the build number changes?

Re: Lion and LiveCode Mobile conflict
Seriously?!?!
Given the significance of this update to Mac users, wouldn't some sort of notification be appropriate? I too was under the impression that the release wasn't ready. Downloading at random to see if the build has changed is crazy. An email to registered users would seem warranted, or at least some sort of announcement on the forums. Now, if only there were a board where announcements could be announced when there was something to announce. Heather, are you listening?
Sorry, but I'm a bit annoyed.

Re: Lion and LiveCode Mobile conflict
I see one comment in this thread in the last day where it looks like a later build was posted to the store and I see one comment where it looks like the Simulator is working in Lion and then I see one comment talking about 4.6.3 (maybe not current build?) where Xcode 4.1 can't be selected.
I then go and review the latest iOS LiveCode Notes pdf (...downloads/livecode/4_6_3/LiveCodeNotes-4_6_3-iOS.pdf). It's version is "Revision 45 – 2011-07-26" and it states on Page 4....
"Note: iOS deployment is only supported on Macs running the latest versions of Snow Leopard and requires installation of an appropriate iOS SDK."
As CALL-151 stated, this is a significant issue and even with everyone's helpful posts to this thread I am still as confused as ever. I worry that I am expected to take "Punt" on upgrading to Lion without any official acknowledgement of the issue and confirmation it has been addressed.
Again I ask, Is it reasonable for some official commentary or communication from RunRev to their developer faithful?
I am desperately trying to keep the faith here!

Re: Lion and LiveCode Mobile conflict
Hello
Build 1445 did the trick for me on Lion and the latest Xcode 4.1
Just don't forget to check (in Livecode) under Development/target menu which simulator you want (only 4.3)
And yes, the documentation is not up to date with this, and Yes RunRev should have stated that, rather than hiding it.
... Now going back to my programming on Lion
