revMobile interface elements

Post by ukaussie » Wed Sep 22, 2010 9:58 pm

I bought revMobile under the impression that the shipping version would allow me to create apps using the native UI elements like buttons, tables etc. Now I read that revMobile will not be shipping with these! Why??

Now it seems I have to be a designer and Photoshop guru in order to get done what was promised to be in the shipping version. I'm not happy at all. I paid £500 for the expectation that these would be included.

I would also be interested in knowing whether I must re-invent the wheel (by having to create buttons, etc. in Photoshop) rather than simply dragging those elements from a palette as I do in the desktop versions of RunRev/LiveCode. I did look at the early videos of someone creating an iPhone app (in X# of hours, sped-up) and I do remember seeing buttons being created in Photoshop but I thought that was simply because the particular shape and "bevel" that dev desired wasn't a standard button shape in revMobile.

Perhaps a way could be found to permit the standard buttons that are created in the desktop version to be copied & pasted into the revMobile stack? That would be an acceptable workaround until v5.

What do you think? (I direct that to anyone reading this post.)

Thanks

Hi friends,

I do not have a license for iOS but I can understand your anger!
Unfortunately native controls will take a while until LiveCode supports them.

Maybe this URL, posted some time ago on the use-rev list may be helpful in the meantime:

Best

Klaus

P.S.
In case you did not know:
This is not the official place for feature requests, since the Rev staff does not read here all the time, just sporadically.
You should write a mail to support@runrev.com!

Or use the "Qualtiy Center" if it still exists.
There are many changes going on and some is still uncertain like the future of this bug database.

Anyway, try this URL (needs registering!):
