Rev takes too long to open

Post by bsouthuk » Wed Aug 11, 2010 7:14 pm

Hi

I have rcently purchase a new beast of a PC - windows 7. All works fine apart from for some reason Rev studio takes too long to open, around 45 seconds. I have even turned off McAfee to see if that has anything to do with it but still no joy. Even when I try to install the plug in, it takes around 45 seconds for the install to begin. It acually appears that everything to to with Revolution is taking a long time to open.

Any ideas as to why this may be?

I don't know much about Windows 7, but if it's anything like my experience with Vista (and this is why I don't use Vista) you may need to turn off UAC and all the related Windows security features. Are you logged in as Administrator? If not, are you logged in as a user with Admin privileges? Since this is a new computer, I'm assuming it's 64-bit. Have you checked the compatiblity mode? I remember having this problem not with rev itself on Vista, but with pretty much any non-Microsoft program.

I hada similar problem, runrev taking forever to open on a windows machine.

In the end for me ut came down to the video drivers, no idea why but changing them just fixed it so it might be worth a shot.

Actually, updating video drivers has fixed some unexplainable weird things for me in Windows as well. So I'd definitely put that in the "things to look into" category, even on a brand-new machine. Ya never know.
