None of my pictures appear when I save as stand-alones.

Post by stephenmcnutt » Tue Apr 20, 2010 1:12 am

All the pictures in my stack are missing in the stand-alone versions. Instead I see a field of gray dots. All images were imported as controls. They're .png and .jpg. Help!?

Hi Stephen,

missing files (images, videos, sounds etc...) are always a problem with incorrect pathnames!

I recently posted a lengthy response to a similar problem with videos which are also referenced
like your missing immages.

Please take a look since this does also apply to referenced images:

Maybe this helps, if not drop another line here and we will see what we can do for you :)
BTW, what platform are you on? MacOS or Windows?

Best

Klaus

I read the post you linked, Klaus, and it makes perfect sense to me, but the images in my stack aren't referenced, they're just imported as controls. I've been using Revolution for years and have never had a problem with images disappearing in stand-alones until version 4.0. I'm having the exact same problem on my home MacBook and on my work iMac, both of which are running the latest version of OS X.

In fact, I have referenced audio files in my stack, and they work just fine in the stand-alone. Only my images are missing. I'll attach a screenshot.

Plus, here's another clue. I can transfer the developer environment (IDE?) version between home and school and the images appear just fine in both places. You would expect this, of course, because the images are "imported as controls" rather than being referenced, external files. In fact, I've deleted the files after importing them into the stack. They still show up just fine in the stack, as you would expect, but the minute I make a stand-alone, I just get gray boxes where the images should be.

Hi Stephen,

oh, sorry for my wrong assumption.

Hmmmm, this is indeed VERY strange!
I could offer to take a look at your (stripped down) stack if you would like to send it to me via mail:

Thanks, Klaus! I'll try to send it to you. It's kind of a big file, though. Do you use DropBox (www.dropbox.com)? I think I've successfully shared my application's folder with you. You should've gotten an email about it. Let me know if you can't get it this way.

Here's some more information. The images are missing regardless of whether I build for Mac OS X or for Windows (XP). Could I have a corrupted copy of Revolution, by any chance? I doubt it because I get the same results whether I build the stand-alone here at work on my iMac or home on my MacBook. It seems unlikely that I could've goofed up both copies of Revolution in the same way. I've tried to update Revolution both home and here at work, and I get the message telling me I'm using the most recent version (4.0.0 build 950). Am I really the only one having this problem? I must be or the forums would be full of it.
