Meeting: Nov 4: Pasadena
UPDATE: Venue arranged - see this post below
Original post:
A number of our members have been asking about a new meeting, and maybe we should have one before the holiday rush destroys our schedules. We have a long-time LiveCode fan from Germany visiting LA at the moment, most of us are vaccinated, and with Nov 4 coming up as the next first-Thursday it seemed worth aiming for.
If we can agree on a 7PM start time as we used to have, we just need to decide on a venue. I have a strong preference for an outdoor setting, shared by some others in our group. I'm living downtown now, and given the spread of our members I'm open to anything downtown, or Pasadena, Glendale, and surrounding areas.
Let's brainstorm here to select a venue, and we'll have dinner and drinks and LiveCode chit chat just like the olden days.

Re: Meeting: Nov 4?
Hi Richard,
Hope all is well!
I would be up for a LC meeting on the fourth.
Oustide and vaxxed. I'll be masked too. This pesky blood cancer makes me particularly susceptible to COVID.
Offhand I can't think of a suitable outdoor venue. Will ponder.
About a month ago I inquired about using a community room at the CapitalOne Bank in Glendale.
There's a bit of a process to get OKed. That might be something to consider for us after the pandemic - assuming there is an after!

Re: Meeting: Nov 4?
I will not be in California, but I will offer a word of advice.
I have had 2 Astra-Zeneca vaccinations AND am NOW getting over COVID-19 I got anyway.
This has NOT been FUN, so I would urge everyone in the strongest terms possible to take every possible
precaution that is available to them.
I hope you all have a super day, and no one gets any sort of disease whatsoever.

Re: Meeting: Nov 4?
Thank you, Richmond. I'm staying quite hunkered down, despite being vaccinated. I have a lot of work to do, so it's not been much of an inconvenience for me. I hope everyone prioritizes their well being, and that of the folks they care about. I hope you're better soon. I appreciate your thoughtful note.richmond62 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 6:43 pmI will not be in California, but I will offer a word of advice.

Ah,
Just learned Bonnie has an art exhibit on Nov. 4, so I won't be able to attend.

Re: Meeting: Nov 4: Pasadena
After discussing this with some of our members, it seems the spacious patio at El Cholo in the Paseo Mall in Pasadena provides a good balance of open air space with reasonable food:
Thursday, Nov 4, 7PM
El Cholo Cafe
300 E. Colorado Blvd, Suite 214,
Pasadena Ca. 91101
at Paseo Colorado
(626) 795-5800
Looking forward to seeing you there.

Re: Meeting: Nov 4: Pasadena
I suggest that you use the Marengo Street Parking Structure.
Go to the top level and cross over on the Bridge. this will take you to the El Cholo restaurant, almost directly.

I am assuming that all attendees are vaccinated?

As far as I know every confirmed attendee has indeed been vaccinated.
