Create animated GIF?

I know there are pros and cons to using animated GIFs in LiveCode. But I'm wondering if it is possible to create animated GIFs? I'd love to be able to use LiveCode to generate animated assets for use in other media productions, but I haven't found anything in the documentation yet that points in this direction. Is this a pipe dream?

(Exporting APNG – animated PNG – would be awesome, but I know that definitely IS a fantasy.
