Set Default Revolution OS X

Post by matty47 » Mon Nov 30, 2009 8:41 pm

Sorry if this has been answered previously but I could not find it in a search of the forum. I recently took advantage of the Mega Bundle and installed Revolution Enterprise on my Macbook running Leopard 10.5.8. I did not uninstall my version 4 of Rev Studio ( which was the default app for rev files) but have not been able to set Rev Enterprise as the default app. I have tried the Get Info on a .rev file and change the default app for all files but that did not work. I also downloaded RCDefault and tried to change the association with this preferences pane however the associations to Rev Studio are greyed out (not 'un'selectable) and I can't get a change to Rev Enterprise to "stick".
If someone could point in the right direction I would be most appreciative. ( Do I have to uninstall the Studio Versions (3.5 and 4.0)??)
Thanks
Matthew

Hi Matty,

for me, the following works. Open Rev Studio 4, go to the Help menu, select "Manage versions...". On my computer, for instance, the following three versions are listed:
"4.0.0-gm-1 (default)
4.0.0-dp-4
3.5.0-gm-2"
Below the list, you will find two buttons, one labeled "Make Default", the other "Launch". Click on the version you would like to use as your default version, and click "Make Default".

Does this work for you?

No, that did not work as the Rev Enterprise in the Mega Bundle installed to /Applications/Revolution Enterprise/ and actually had a folder (version) 4.0.0-gm-1 and this did not show if I started the studio version. What I ended up doing was uninstalling Studio version 4 and when this was done, Enterprise appeared as the default app.
Thanks
Matthew
