It has been a while.
The "Align Controls" pane in the inspector does not stick as one works through, er, aligning controls. All the others panes do stick. This has been reported and acknowledged.
I am posting here again to see if there is any news (v.9?) , or if I should just continue pouting.

Well, instead of just pouting, you could try Bernd's handy little aligner (yes, I know that is not a *fix*, but it does work very well 
)
If you ever worked in Delphi (or FPC/Lazarus), you might even find it better than the built in mode. It certainly is less conspicuous, and certainly faster than even the controls on the bottom of the project browser.
