Zero Contents - Giant Size
Hi,
after a lot of usual editing and testing operations on a newly created 1500 x 1000 pixel stack of 4 cards, I realized this stack's obscene size of 88 MB. I deleted all cards but the first one, all scripts, all buttons, fields, images, graphics, players …
I have left over a stack, that now has a file size of 86.008.948 Bytes.
Is there a nerd to examine my stack ?
With greetings from Peter

You could try
and read the note regarding "save" in the description to the dictionary entry of "compact".

Code: Select all
compact this stack

Hi Peter,
did you try to make a copy with "Save as..." of your stack and see what that gives?
Sometimes (sic!) writing the stack back to a new file fixes this kind of weirdenss.

Re: Zero Contents - Giant Size
Two types of things that may contribute to stack file size but not be obvious: custom properties in the remaining objects, and groups that had been created but are no longer placed on any cards.

Klaus makes a point with "Save as..." since saving from the menuBar automatically compacts, whereas saving from a handler does not.

Hi,
thank you all, you nothing but most prestigious LC experts …
I seem to own a unique stack: it has 1 card (1500 x 1000 pixels), but absolute no controls, no custom properties, no images, no graphics … but a file size of 88 MB. Compacting and | or saving works well (but time consuming) per menu or per message or per script, but does change nothing.
I can't say it more unmistakable, and offer again my stack for examination.
Thank you
Peter

Hi Peter,
I would like to take a look, can you put it somewhere on a server/Dropbox etc. and send me the link?

Hi all,
the solution:
There were 79 unplaced groups left in the stack, which explains it all

Aha.
79? I do not think I have made that many this year.
