Localisation (L10N)

Post by Gurki »

LiveCode is also used in schools. And unfortunately, not everyone lives in Britain and speaks well English. And even if some schools starts English lessons at early ages, at K12 classes, there is very little knowledge. But not only children in not English speaking countries prefers sometimes their own language.

Is there a possibility to localise the the menus and the dialog boxes (and evtl. the help)? Is there a way to put this texts to a localisation platform as launchpad or at translatewiki.

The code language will of course remain in «nearly English». In the late 1990ies, HyperCard had a hudge success with localised versions in German and French. I could help for German and French translations as I did in other open source projects.

Hi Gurki,

I guess localizing the GUI could help, however, more important are Dictionary and the Documentation.

Actually, there is a survey about LiveCode. There is a question about your first language and if you are interested in a localisation. If you want to complete the survey you can access it through:
