Game Templates included with RR

I am thinking about purchasing Runtime Revolution, but I HATE scripting so I'm not feeling very confident about using RR. What I am wondering is what games are included with the software. I would like to be able to change things around and add my graphics, etc. The games that I am looking for are things that can be used for learning.

Concentration
Hang Man
Matching Games
CTBs templates
and/or quiz templates would be great too.

I searched around trying to find some answers, but couldn't see anything that talked about the included example games. I would like to finish some kind of little game before I die. I've tried just about every language and some software that claims no programming is needed. They all end up needing scripting or programming to really do anything. Maybe templates are a better way for this programming challenged person. I love graphics and design and just don't get coding very well.

Hi Rachel, welcome to the Forum (which seems fairly quiet at the moment!)

There are no games templates as such (except for a, to be fair, fairly primitive template in Rev Media for creating adventure games, although you still have to learn scripting).

There are a few games-based stacks around: if you go to RevOnline once you've purchased Rev or using the Demo (one of the buttons under the Rev menu bar, if you don't know) there's a Games category; you might find some stuff there.

You might have seen in this Forum, under the heading Revolution Media and Spotlight, the category called Games (Adventure Game Maker or roll your own)which might point you to finished games stacks.

You might consider Malte Brille's excellent plugin called Animation Engine if you start your own scripting in earnest (scripting can be fun when you get the hang of it!):

Buying Revolution to create games is fine but ideally one needs to learn scripting to get any sophistication. Although I think RR is the "bees-knees" you might consider purchasing a program specifically for making games:

If you enjoy graphics but if I understand you correctly, not much into scripting, and you use an Apple Mac, I can highly recommend a Mac game making piece of software called Power Game Factory:

Hi Rachel,

if you enjoy doing artwork and would like to get into making games, but do not like scripting, have you ever considdered teaming up with people who do enjoy scripting? Most scripters I know are not too good artists (well, nobody can be Scott Rossi besides Scott Rossi). You might maybe post a request for scripting help in the off topic section of this forum. Some enjoy scripting for the sake of it and would love to see their projects spiced up with graphics. At my tiny games company we have artists that draw the graphics we use. We really value those peoplem, because good art is so much more than just eye candy. Maybe you could find one or 2 motivated people here that can help you make your ideas come true. Of course you would need to elaborate a bit more what you have in mind.
