I’d like to share Sliderrs, a puzzle game I designed and programmed with LiveCode and published on the iOS App Store.

Code: Select all

(Cant post links, but if you replace the "-" with "."
you'll get an active link to the App Store)
Sliderrs began with a familiar idea—the classic 15-puzzle—but I wanted to explore how it could feel as a modern mobile game rather than simply reproduce the original.

Some of the features I implemented include:

• Sliding multiple tiles in a single move
• Eight shuffle difficulty levels
• Configurable image hints and backgrounds
• Built-in images at several difficulty levels
• Creating puzzles from the camera or photo library
• A scoring system based on moves, time, and shuffle difficulty
• Saved best scores, Game Center support, autosave, and smart resume
• A fully custom interface, interactions, and animations

One of the most interesting development challenges was balancing the shuffle algorithm, puzzle-state variety, and scoring calculation so that different difficulty levels remained meaningful and comparable.

The entire game—from the gameplay logic and state management to the interface and App Store deployment—was developed with LiveCode.

I’d be interested to hear what other LiveCode developers think, particularly about the interaction design, difficulty system, and overall game experience.

Have a good one,
Shmulik
