I hate to say this but as you all allude to (and I did as well with my posting of the FB content), this seems like vapourware and all posts here and on FB seem to be created to drive rumours and social media attention, rather than promote actual software.

A serious developer would not post in this way. And we are the wrong crowd to be swayed but social media silliness.

Then there's also the excessive use of emoji, which strongly suggests an AI driven narrative:

I still feel the basic premise of this is wrong. A seriously developer creating an app extrernal to LC would utilise a professional code editor rather than re-create the wheel.
Until we see a video clearly demonstrating this, or even better, a downloadable demo, this can only be seen as vapourware (which I personally haven't seen since the days of the rumoured MacOS Copland!)

Stam, I don’t think this is ‘vaporware’.
I do think, however, that it could be a rather sophisticated form of ‘phishing’, and if that is indeed the case, the questions remain:

- Who is orchestrating this kind of phishing?
- And to what end (to artificially boost Facebook’s visitor traffic figures?)?
- Why this particular forum?
- How did they identify the need for a new LiveCode development interface?
- etc., etc.

It would be interesting to know whether other forums (not necessarily related to LiveCode) have encountered this sort of practice...

MacOS Copland was not complete vapourware, I was running a version of it on a Performa 5200 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for about a month (the inevitable Egyptian LENT me an install CD): it kept going into odd purging cycles and was unusable, so blanked the machine and installed system 8.5.1.

Lots you can say here, but 'vapourware' in my mind is a product that either doesn't exist or is not functional as advertised, and which has been the subject of vigorous promotion.

That may indeed be a form of phishing - but that doesn't mean it's not also vapourware.

The main drive for this, as far as I can tell from the limited information available, is to create an online presence of these discussions, I'm going to guess so that the author can use this as proof of expertise in other endeavours but of course he may just request money outright.

Why this forum? Simply because we like responding and create more online noise which benefits the author in google indexing I'd imagine.
I'm as guilty of responding as you all are, perhaps we should all stop, and if no product is actually forthcoming just delete this thread entirely.

At the end of the day it is not a post that belongs in 'Made with LiveCode' since the supposed editor was clearly never advertised as such.

Announced in 1994 as the savior of the Macintosh platform to compete with Windows 95, Copland was heavily marketed for years with features like advanced multitasking, memory protection, and a futuristic user interface. However, the project suffered from severe feature creep and terrible mismanagement.
The software was so unstable that early developer versions would spontaneously crash. Apple officially cancelled the project in 1996 without ever releasing it to the public, forcing them to buy NeXT (bringing back Steve Jobs) to get a working operating system
