The hidden characters probably appeared due to copy/pasting code from the pdf file.

Hi Linda - yes that could be the case - and if true should be flagged up to prevent others tripping over the same bug - could you post a warning in the relevant bit of the 'Create it with LiveCode' sub-forum?

I was hoping to find what the errant characters were, but after downloading both of the files linked to on the previous page here they both compile fine in v7.0.1. :\
