I know, I know, reviving a REALLY old thread again, and one that a number of people came up with great solutions too, however this line from the first post caught my eye...
The "background too light" part, if anyone comes across this later, can be changed in the preferences -Any coding I do in other IDE's, I use commonly used dark themes, eg Cobalt/Monokai, primarily because of headache inducing eye strain if the background is too light.
