but you wouldn't ever expect wedges, of course
No, but I might administer wedgies to the extra thick ones. 8)

Although I notice that stateside a 'wedgie' involves something with someone's underpants,
while what I understand by a wedgie involves rubbing one's fist forcefully over someone's head.

Divided by a common language.

Here (in Bulgaria) they differentiate between what they call 'fried tatties' (which are what I'd call chips) and 'village fried chips'; which
are basically chipped tatties that have not been peeled, are then fried, and then sprinkled with Winter Savory
(the Big-Time Bulgarian herb). Mind you, thyme would be just as good.

Mind you; these ones, with Dill on them, are dead good:

This is the potato salad that I will be cooking today for lunch at my house. I will make a nice steak on the side. Should be tasty.

Best of all are "Boardwalk Fries" sold at the beach.
Vinegar French Fries. Not your ordinary fry, these tangy boardwalk-inspired spuds are soaked in vinegar, refrigerated to allow the natural sugars to develop and then fried to a golden brown finish. Dress the rustic cut potatoes in plenty of vinegar and salt to enhance the already-tangy flavor.

Yummy!

I know this is a bit of an old thread now but it's new to me, and I LOL'd when I read that.
Yeah a "wedgie" is when you walk up behind someone and grab the waist band of their underpants and pull them sharply upwards, wedging the underpants deep into places they don't belong. Usually performed by middle-school aged kids (10-13 year olds) or sometimes my wife
The other thing is known in my area as a "Nuggie"(sp?), the knuckles are rub on the victims scalp. Also a favorite of middle-schoolers.

Yup: when I was a kid at school in Britain that was either a "wedgie" or a "nudgie" with a /dʒ/.

I have my suspicions about 3 young men who are currently renting a flat of mine.

They are all level designers for an online porn game . . .

The cold tap in the kitchen sink was dripping: a kitchen sink that looked as clean
as a new pin after 3 months of their occupation: go figure!
