Yah, it was. I just don't get it.

Did you restart LC/your computer?
Silly advice, but actually helps sometimes to remove "gremlins".

I used to do tech support, and I'm a firm believer in the restart to clear memory issues, but the nature of the project means I need a straight run through (well, I could do it in stages, but I don't want to forget a step).

For what it is worth, this was a 'clean' start of the system, immediately followed by a 'clean start' of Lc. I think I'll just step down to 8.0.1 and see if it is the same type of thing, maybe 8.1.2 is just over the new enough line to not work on my system.

This sounds a bit like the bug I've been talking about, where objects aren't found among other things. But usually restarting LC fixes it.

Edit: I take it back, the problem is likely that it can't find a "help" field on the current card. You provided a long reference to the custom property but not to the target field.
