As you can see in the attachment, I'm having trouble "seeing" what goes next and how to implement what I intend.

Nice project, I could have some fun writing that. I'd use a database to store the questions (labels) and the correct answers (so I could score). That way I can retrieve the questions from a single location (so if I make changes I change in 1 place, not 2). Coloring the result will be the easiest part once you have the score calculated. I attached a screenshot with some ideas. I wasn't sure which way you wanted the colors so I did one with backcolor and the other with forecolor. Other options are probably available (my knowledge in some areas of LC is limited).

Have fun with it, you're at least 1/2 way to the finish line.

I have a feeling there becomes an "ah ha" moment with LC. Just as everything else in life. Hmmmm, so far, that "ah ha" moment hasn't happened. Eventually, either those veterans here will help pound it into my skull, this will become an expensive hobby with me purchasing everything related to LC and learning little, or I'll give it up and give another language a shot.

In the meantime, I'll try the forums and hope the veterans can help teach me and others. I'm already over $500 in the hole with little to show ( Gold Bundle and some store purchases ).

Thanks for your response marksmtihfx and the link. I believe I watched that, but since it's been 4 or 5 months ago, I'll watch that again. The teachings may sink in a little better the second time around. ;)

Hi Shawn,

More than watching, after each lesson make sure you code up the application yourself to whatever state it should be in... we had a week between lessons. You get to do it at your own pace (fast or slow). By working along some of the concepts will stick better (or so the theory goes :D )

PS the lesson materials provide additional stuff. Be sure to download them. They will help a lot.

You are welcome to look over the webpages I use to teach LiveCode to 9th graders. I am in the process of putting up the assignments and more material but it is a start for now. They are very basic and cover simple game programming.

Let me know if they are of any help.

Looks interesting. What have the student responses been like so far?

They love it and are having fun programming. So far they have written mazes, educational games and are now writing action games. Some are very good and worth playing. They are very creative and have come up with some interesting ideas. I have some examples of screens in PDF's on some of the pages on that site. I will add more this week.

There is also a free lesson plan with good info by Devin Asay, who teaches LiveCode at BYU. This is his coursework for the first year LiveCode students:
