One of the best teaching/lesson plans out there is Devin Asay's syllabus. He uses it to teach university students LiveCode and has made it publicly available:

There are also the scripting conference stacks that lead you through all the main concepts along with examples, scripts, and discussion:

If you go through both of those in order you will come out at the end with a very solid understanding of LiveCode.
