HyperStudio Stack Scope
Hi,
I have uploaded "HyperStudio Mac Stack Scope" to my Github repository along with an illustrated user guide. An Apple IIGS version is planned since it is sufficiently different from the Mac version. Note: I had to decipher the stack format since I couldn't find it documented so there will be room for improvement in the future. Have fun!

Re: HyperStudio Stack Scope
Will that also open version 5 HyperStudio stacks (i.e. the devolution to a scriptless load of ##£%^&)?

Re: HyperStudio Stack Scope
Come to think of things, would your scope expose the hidden code?

Re: HyperStudio Stack Scope
Right:
went here: https://www.mackiev.com/support_hs.html
which was no great help as my iMac running MacOS 12 Intel is not going to get anywhere with 32-bit software.
So went here: https://archive.org/details/HyperStudio5
and: https://archive.org/details/simple-proj ... ac-windows
Mind you, as I seem unable to open the 'scope':

The User Guide seems to consist of a single image:

Re: HyperStudio Stack Scope
That HyperStudio apparently ground to a halt in 2014 (but is still being marketed) is, as far as I am concerned, the reomval of the ability to do any real programming.

Richmond,
In my Github repository download the .zip file from the green "<>CODE" pull down button. In this package are the user guide and the application, but you will also see a lot of the development history in there which I thought developers might find interesting, including test stacks and test harnesses.
I'll go back into the repository and see why the individually listed zip files don't seem to open correctly. I'll post an update when I get it sorted.
HyperStudio and the Mackiev publisher seems to have stopped development of updates for the Mac past Mojave, the last macOS to support 32 bit applications. The windows version still runs pretty well on Windows 10, I haven't tried it on Windows 11. A few years ago I corresponded with Roger Wagner and was able to get the latest version 5.3 which was never distributed by Mackiev (their last version for the Mac was version 5.2). I was able to test the 29 card Home stack from version 5.3 and my utility handled it with no problem.
I kind of got tired of waiting for an update to the commercial HyperStudio that would run on modern Macs so I have a 2017 iMac running Mojave JUST for HyperStudio (and SuperCard).

P.S.F.Y.I.B.T.W. I am working on "SuperCard Stack Scope" as well as the "HyperStudio GS Stack Scope" utility.

Ah, back from a good, hot bath.

As I cannot for the life of me manage to mount an ISO disk image from the internet archive, I am unable to access any HyperStudio sample stacks.

Re: HyperStudio Stack Scope
Richmond,
I tweaked the Github repository but it is important that you download the .zip archive under the green CODE button, it generates an archive that can be expanded properly. Downloading the individual files that are listed directly doesn't work. Same goes for the other HyperCard Stack Scope and HyperCardGS Stack Scope repositories. I'll look for some decent HS stacks or make a few to add to the Github repository as examples.
Someone more experienced than me using Github (probably everyone) might provide guidance, it would be appreciated.

Re: HyperStudio Stack Scope
Would you like the project file parsing source for that?
What is this Scope used for?

Re: HyperStudio Stack Scope
Chummy built an innovative HyperStudio stack 20 years ago and wishes to rejig it in an xTalk IDE with a minimum of effort.
1. HEAVY LIFTING METHOD.
Chummy digs out a relatively old computer, locates a version of HS, installs it, opens the stack, copies graphic content, functionality, and so forth on a more contemporary computer running an xTalk IDE.
2. 'In the Hutch' METHOD.
Considerably less lifting involved.
