Re: Announcing Xavvi, a Great Leap Forward for App Building
What will, happen with existing business license holders? Will LC 10 and beyond get desktop versions of the new features or does all this mean a development /commercial fork that will leave current licensees stranded?

Re: Announcing Xavvi, a Great Leap Forward for App Building
Hi James,
Our intention is not to leave anyone stranded Business licenses continue to be Business licenses. LiveCode 10 and beyond continue to receive updates and appropriate new features. To use the Cloud based features will require a Xavvi license, because, well, they are part of Xavvi and need the cloud, with all the associated backend expenses. You will be able to use the Xavvi Extensions pack to bring those features into LiveCode if you have the appropriate licensing. Please see this link:
https://livecode.com/xavvi/xavvi-vs-livecode/
You might also want to sign up for the Q&A we're going to hold next Tuesday (if you haven't already):

Best Regards,
Heather

Dear Heather, thank you for putting me straight - I had completely missed the “tech” and “pricing” sections.
Can I just confirm: is a Xavvi licence separate from a livecode licence? Will one need both to publish to desktop in that case? That would effectively double the cost to me, but not sure if LC will be rolled into Xavvi?
Many thanks
Stam

I think, Stam, that Xavvi will be like another layer on top of LiveCode: not necessary for development: more an assistant that should make things considerably easier and faster.

Re: Announcing Xavvi, a Great Leap Forward for App Building
As has already been pointed out; that is scheduled really inconveniently.
While I realise that owing to timing, I and others, will not be able to take part (and, I am sure, knowing my pro-active/aggressive stance, you may not regret that . . . ROFL), it would be extremely kind of you if, after the session, you could make a video/transcript available for download and/or online access.
Possibly, despite signals going in other directions, some of the erstwhile 'Community version' users may feel that somethings that come up in that discussion may justify finding the funds to pay for commercial licences.

The session was recorded, you will be able to view it. I'm sure Heather will let us know when it's available.
Someone joined at 1:00 AM local time. Maybe you're just lazy?

No: I'm far from lazy, I spent 5.30 - 7 Bulgarian time (i.e. 3.30 - 5 Edinburgh time) explaining mixed conditional sentences to a classroom of teenagers: a laugh, a few jokes, and some difficult grammar.

Looking forward to the Xavvi video.

Interesting. I don't think I've come across the distinction between "third" and "mixed" conditionals.
That's much more interesting to me that some AI-driven thing.
...except for the Pizza Hug Spot commercial.

Mark, if, like thee and me, thou art a native English speaker (even if of different dialects . . . LOL), thou really hast
no need to be aware of the zero, first, second, third and mixed conditionals as thy English is embedded in thee so deeply
that thou willst have no problem at all either identifying a conditional sentence or understanding what it means.
HOWEVER, speakers of other languages really need to know all these fairly twiddly distinctions to understand what a
conditional sentence means:

As a teacher I am not meant to talk about sex with the teenagers I teach, so this week, just to spice
things up and get the hormones racing we are going to spend some time on . . .
The Joy of Subjunctives.
With any luck we'll have no teenage pregnancies.

...and while looking into the various conditionals I fell into the rabbit hole of "if I was" vs "if I were".
