Poisoning Pensioners' Minds

Post by richmond62 » Fri Dec 06, 2019 11:31 am

I think that this may be fun:

There are far too many pensioners wasting their good minds when they
could be getting into LiveCode. :D

I am getting this online course going as a sort of memorial to my father
who died last year at 86, and whose mind was as sharp as a new pin right to the end,
mainly because he kept doing things with it rather than sitting around being
the stereotypical zombified pensioner.

Still running: into our 3rd weekend. 8)

Putting quite a bit of thought and work into this and wondering whether to publish all of it with a suitably insulting title:

LiveCode for Wrinklies.

Power to your elbow. I have been thinking about doing something like that for homeless and others who have fallen thro the safety net. Let me know if I can help in any way. Not sure how much time I have but at least you have my moral support and happy to discuss. I am based in London.

PS. Love the wacky title. How about something like Wrinkly Coders...!

What "got" me was a pensioner here in Bulgaria telling me they could not
relate to all the 'clever' stuff their grandkids were doing on some sort of
summer coding club.

I also get extremely effed-off when I see people who, 5 years ago were using their brains at work and
so on now sitting in front of daytime soaps while they rot far, far too early, when they have a lot still to
offer.

Just getting to movement (difficult for pensioners who tend to have stiff joints):

This weekend's Homework . . .

"The buttons "HOME" and "TOP RIGHT" already have scripts in them.

Your work is to write scripts in the other buttons."

I am in the process of transferring all extant files from that Pensioners' Forum to a New Facebook page:

I shall continue with the classes as soon as all the material has been transferred (probably on about the 18th of February).

I am transferring this material because I do not like the fact that that Pensioners' Forum seems to be full of Little England,
Xenophobic people who spend most of their time writing extremely offensive things about people from other countries (including Scotland),
other religions, non-heterosexuals and other ethnicities.

I do not, honestly, feel like propping up that lot any longer. 8)

About 65% of the course for the pensioners has now been transferred.
