Outsourcing

Post by nicoloose » Sun Sep 22, 2019 3:38 pm

Hi everyone,

I have a very simple app written in LC and currently published to the App Store but I need someone to deploy to Android for me. I would do it myself if I had the time but I have two products that have gone live and this app was to assist me to sell them. I will happily donate cash towards whoever can offer to do this for me.

Many thanks in advance

donate cash
That's hilarious. If you're expecting someone else to do the
work you'll be PAYING them, and there's no "gladly" about it;
it'd be a straight business transaction.

To be honest, if you have managed to get 2 things on the Mac App store
it should not be either that difficult or that time-consuming for you
to get an Android app up and running.

The Bluestacks application on acOS is very good indeed for running an APK to see how it pans out.

Welcome aboard, nicoloose.

Don't fret about Richmond. He gets prickly at times. Myself and a few others here, even the engine team, are frequent targets of his posts.

He does have a good point in this last post, though. The Android deployment process is much less cumbersome than Apple's. It may take even less time to set yourself up with that than it would to bring another person on board.

If you go that route feel free to post any follow-up questions you may have. Plenty here to lend a hand.

Indeed.
-
Having been the 'victim' of someone "outsourcing" to me with LiveCode (in 2002),
I would recommend that both the outsourcer and the 'outsourcee' have a mutually
satisfactory contract. As a result of ending up considerably out of pocket when someone
was talking about "donations" and "help," I am very prickly indeed.

Wait a minute: what is the fancy, politically correct phrase these days?

Aha: "Trigger Warning."

1 create an gmail account
2 go to Google Play Developer
3 pay 25$ one time fee with your creditcard (at the time i did it i had n creditcard but there are prepaid or onetime use on the web available, put 25$ on it and pay it)
4 open the Google Play Console (developers Dashboard)
5 Create a project
6 add signed APK(s) (under releasemanagement)
7 add photo/screenshots/video(youtube)
8 Make up a little story what it does
9 fill in the App-content and the contentclassification (under availability in the store)
10 Release to production

Thanks. The reason for wanting to “outsource” is that I understand my limitations and my resources. Time being the most crucial and the one thing I have none of. Unlike all the other gurus I’m a bit more technically challenged. I’ve learnt some amazing lessons lately and one of them is if you need something done professionally, pay someone who is BETTER to do it professionally. I don’t want to hack away at something that is going to be important to my offering and I also just don’t have enough time on my hands. My requirement is for someone to take the app I have and help me get it onto Android as quickly as possible.
This group has always been about “Do it yourself” which is great but outside of this group there is VERY little help one can get.
RICHARD you shouldn’t feel prickled really, not everyone is evil and wanting to rip you off. Next time I will use big words like “mutually agreeable” and “remuneration”.

Hi Nicoloose,

what is the biggest issue you are challenged with for getting your app on the store?

1 you have a gmail account? (i really think doing it yourself is the safest way, because you need to give your credentials to someone if he/she do it for you and are they trustworthy)
2 you build an app that's ready?
3 did you create a keystore to sign the app? (via commandline java tool?)
4 did you sign the app when building it?
5 have some iages ready at the correct sizes to upload to the store?

Building the app is more difficult than getting it on the Google Play Store.
So let us know what exactly the thing is, which is holding you back.

Oh, Oh; here we go again: :D
RICHARD you shouldn’t feel prickled really
Who is Richard (if not "Gaskin") ? 8)

And, as a disclaimer, I would like to state, quite categorically,
although I do enjoy, in a slightly sadistic sort of way, rubbing
"that Richard" up the wrong way, he knows in his heart that
I feel nothing but love and admiration for his role in this, um, 'goulash'. :D
