Dead in the Water - Need Apache to work on Mac - SOLVED

I am sorry for this repetitive post!

I am using a Macbook pro running OS X 10.10.5

I am a very passionate person and once I start something, I cannot quite (it is a defect in my DNA). I cannot sleep, until I got closer to my goal.
I am running the LC sever successfully from command line.

My wife is very upset with my determination to do this maybe impossible task, but If someone is running OS X 10.10 and successfully has Apache running as a local host,
Please, Please share your Apache conf files.

I have googled this issue till the battery on my Mac went dead, without success.

Trying to setup Apache to explore LC database capabilities. I have used LC on several small projects with good success, but I know very little about how to use databases. I have downloaded the LC sever and it has tested good from the command line. Now I am trying to get the apache to work. I have created a user file the /etc/apache2/ directory and put the test.lc in /Users/drwhite777/Sites.

When I try to go to http://localhost/drwhite777/test.lc with Safari,
I get "The requested URL /drwhite777/test.lc was not found on this server."

My apache user configuration file is as follows:

Can you post your config file in its entirety? Including the name of the file.

It has gotten worse.
Now when I put localhost/drwhite777/test.lc into Safari, I get a message that Safari cannot connect to server "localhost"

Are you restarting apache after any changes you make?

sudo apachectl restart
If you have some errors in your config file, apache will sometimes not restart, so you have to look in the error log to see what the error is, then (after you fix your erros) you have to:

sudo apachectl start

I am back to "The requested URL /drwhite777/test.lc was not found on this server."

I made a change to the following:

I continue go through the LIveCode tutorial "How do I Install LiveCode Server?" over and over.
Also googling Apache setups.

Again, I am using OS X 10.10.5

I might be getting close.

Now when I enter "http://localhost/~drwhite777/test.lc" I get:
Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /~drwhite777/test.lc on this server.

What can I do to resolve this message?

Given the DocumentRoot you showed earlier, (/Users/drwhite777/Sites), Apache will use that for localhost/. So the path following localhost/ in your URL has too much stuff in it.

For starters, "~" is user-specific, and Apache generally runs as www-data or something like that (depending on the system configuration), so "~" won't mean anything to an account that has no home folder.

Even if you replace "~" with the full path, that would only work is the DocumentRoot was "/", something you'd probably never want to do (and in this case safely didn't).

So if my hunch is correct try this url:

http://localhost/test.lc

FourthWorld,

When I entered "http://localhost/test.lc" I get "The requested URL file /test.lc not found on this server.

The file test.lc is located in /Users/drwhite777/Sites.

Someone asked me if Sites was a SymLink folder. What does that mean?

That was a great web site and I made the suggested changes. I confirmed permissions, but still the file cannot be found on server error message is displayed.

Great News!

* LiveCode Server works well, when tested from command line

* Apache works well, when tested locally

-- But when I try running the test.lc from browser (http://localhost/~drwhite777/test.lc)

I get:

" ?>

Instead Of:

The date is 1/18/16

Its like the LiveCode script is not being executed by the LiveCode server.

I have checked the file path of the LiveCode-server several times.

Any thoughts on what could be the problem?

I think this line :

in your drwhite777.conf shouldn't include the "<" character
