I'm with Richmond on this. With a machine that old, for the love of God don't plug it into the open Internet. The only people still delivering patches for a system that old are organized crime and hostile nation states.
It's unfortunate that manufacturers abandon their hardware, but like Richmond notes, Linux has your back. You can breathe new life into just about any hardware with a fresh OS that runs efficiently and is still getting security updates.
