Jerky Script Editor Scrolling

Another issue in a thread on this pane about "sluggishness". I bring it here because it might be worth doing so.

I recently migrated to v8.1.6 from living fully in v.6.7.9.

There are issues, but one of the most annoying is that the scrolling in the script editor is slow and jerky. That seems unfair just for the privilege of being thoroughly modern. Nobody else has this?

Scrolling in the editor here is ok (linux), but there are other disturbing things to see...

Mirror of "sluggishness" thread.

... I made a new stack in a new session with a single button. Placed 1000 lines of nonsensical but compilable code in the button script. Scrolling is jerky. Checking back to v6, the scrolling is smooth and sexy.

If I move the thumb a certain distance, the scroll will track it, though delayed, in steps. When I stop dragging, a handful of those jerky steps will "follow", as they catch up to the final thumbPos.

If this was everyone's situation I would understand. If it were a setting in v.8 I could change it. If it is just me, I am depressed.

Well.

Trashing the preferences file has dramatically improved the dragging of many selected controls, and also solved the jerkiness in the script editor.

Well.

After making a couple of changes to LC, mainly the font in the script editor and changing the backdrop, the jerkiness came back.

Rats.

Well, well.

Some fonts cause the jerkiness (Hirago, which I like a lot) and some do not, like the default.

Made a comment to the team, though I am not sure this is just a font rendering issue unrelated to LC.
