Reading font tables from font file?

Has anyone ever dealt with reading the tables from a font file, mainly the "name" table?

Mainly, entries 0, 4, 5, 9, 10 and 13.

I'm trying to figure it out, but am a bit lost when reading the specs and trying to wrap my mind around it and come up with some rev code for it.

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.
