Hi All,
Could you test if applying/removing the graphic effect outerGlow
on a freehand graphic crash LiveCode 7 DP3?
Bernd Niggeman send me a stack where this effect is applied in many
vector graphics. If I click a button to remove the effect, LiveCode 7 dp3 quits.
No error message, no warning... just quits.
This does not happen in LC 6.7 dp4.
Check both stacks included in this message.
Open one stack in LC 6.7 dp4 and click the button "outerGlow"
This Graphic Effect is removed from all graphics.
Open the second stack in LC 7 dp3 and click the button "outerGlow"
LiveCode quits.
Thanks in advance!

I Don't have 6.7 installed, But I can confirm that it works in 6.6.2 (rc3), but crashes Livecode 7.0 (DP3)

Re: LIVECODE 7 DP3 Graphic Effect outerGlow
Hi,
it is a known bug
Bug 12459 - setting any graphic effects to "none" crashes LC 7 dp3
and awaiting build.
The problem was that LC 7 dp3 did not accept "set the outerglow of object to none" Previous versions accepted that syntax.
I never looked that up before the crashes and just used "none" instead of "empty". Which sounded just as good
Strictly speaking, according to the dictionary, "none" is synonymous to "zero". So my use of "none" was off label.
Setting a fillgradient to "none" in LC 7 dp3 throws an error instead of crashing. I hope they will allow that syntax also for gradients.
As far as I understand they will reinstate "none" as equivalent to "empty" in this regard to keep backward compatibility.
Kind regards
Bernd

Hi all,
This bugfix made it in to 7.0dp4 at the last second, and so shouldn't crash any more in that version.
Kind Regards,
Ali

Hi Ali,
thanks for the super speedy fix.
Did you allow "none" for gradients too. Up to now it throws an error in 7 dp3
Kind regards
Bernd

Yes, I changed the gradient behaviour to match the bitmap effect behaviour. Unfortunately in the process I seem to have caused but 12483, which I am currently fixing.
