Code Snippets Library

Post by AndyP » Sat May 24, 2014 11:02 pm

Hi , I would think that most of us in the community keep our own individual code snippet libraries which if we were able to feed these into a central searchable repository would become a great resource.

I have a fair sized library which has come from numerous sources which I would be happy to share as I'm sure others would be if there was a place to share them.

Maybe a subset of RevOnline for snippets would be a reasonable way to go...but RevOnline is at the moment pretty buggy, hangs and makes the LiveCode IDE non-responsive.

As a snippet is text only, it maybe a better solution to have a separate ´Snippets` button in the IDE tied to a RunRev hosted stack and database for these.

I'm not the most experienced LiveCoder but would be willing to help in such a project as much as I'm able.

Apologies in advance if there are a lot of typos, as an expat living in Germany, I'm still getting used to the layout of the German keyboard!

Let's fix it.

RevOnline was designed to handle code snippets as well as stacks, and if we create something new just for snippets we still have a broken RevOnline.

But if we fix RevOnline, we have code snippets AND a working RevOnline - and a lot less work to get there.

I just posted a Project proposal in the IDE contributors section - let's see if we can get RevOnline working, and if we can get that done we can then move forward with broader goals for it:
