Found Release Notes for Android in LiveCode 4.6.1 menus
Stepping thru them now.....
Android Support (4.6.1)
The IDE now contains built-in support for testing and deploying Android applications. The
35
4.6.x Release Notes – Revision 18 – 2011-04-25 – Mark Waddingham
following features have been added to support this:
• An Android pane has been added to the Standalone Builder
• Save as Standalone Application can now build Android applications
• The Test button supports both Android and iOS application testing.
• Configuration of the test target (device or emulator) via a Test Target submenu in the
Development menu.
• Configuration of SDK location for Android in the Mobile Support pane of the Preferences.
More details on how to use these features can be found in the Android Release Notes accessible via
the Help menu.
Note: If you do not have an Android deployment pack, you can still use the Android feature in trial
mode. In this case the applications you build will contain a forced banner on startup lasting 5
seconds, and they will quit after one minute.

installer_r10-windows( - Android SDK).exe
Java SE Development Kit would NOT install
until AFTER I installed
jdk-6u25-windows-i586.exe
AND immediately thereafter
registered with Oracle and confirmed and completed my details online.
I've also just read a reply from tech support that the install procedures have now been updated:

Finally a bit further ...
There was an error while saving the standalone application
189,34,1,c:\docum~1\AdminI~1\Locals~1\Temp\tmp2\libs\armeabi\librevandroid.so/res.drawable/splash_image.png
253,33,1
241,33,1,deployMobile
353,0,0,stack "LiveCodeAndroidDeploySupport"
is it weird the path delimiters change from \ to / in the 189 line above?
Going for a 2 hour bike ride to clear me head.

Hi all,
Just wanted to clarify
my first Android Hello World app
build on Mac Book Pro
tests on virtual device correctly
AND executes correctly on my HD2 Android Phone.
Tech Support has confirmed a bug exists
in building Android app on WindowsXP sp3 platform
that will not allow the app to be saved/build.

I've since received credit for my purchase.
And have reinstalled and activated LC successfully.
Android build on Actived LiveCode 4.6.1
on Windows platform builds and tests on Android virtual emulator and physical phone correctly now.
So all ok now.

Hi Barry,
I am using LiveCode 4.6.1 on Windows XP and I am getting the same error you were getting in the beginning.
"There was an error while saving the standalone application could not compile application class."
The bug doesn't seem to be completely fixed yet. Is there anything else you did, other than reinstall LiveCode?
Thanks.

I recall the fix being that I actually purchased LiveCode via the OmegaBundle ( no longer available ).
Once LIveCode purchasing processed my purchase and entered my purchase credit onto their database.
I was then able to apply the license via:
Help | Re-License LiveCode
Afterwards another different error did occured that a reboot fixed.
I have confirmed that the purchased and Re-License of LiveCode DOES save, compile, and run correctly on both the virtual and physical devices.
Strange this issue is still around.
May be an intentional limitation where you have to purchase.
Or may even be an intentional NO FIX on the bug for the same reason.
I could swear this is still happening on the MAC version as well.

Hi Barry,
It seemed to have fixed itself. I'm not sure how/why but it did. It had issues yesterday, but this morning when I tried it, it started working fine again (I didn't reboot). I'll give it a try on MAC and hopefully it won't give me an error on there.
Thank you.

I am having the same problem as in the original post. I do not have license yet for Android but do have one for Win/Mac and iOS. I was able to build a sample app a few weeks ago, but not now.

Could you both please download and install 4.6.2 and try again.
If you can't get it to work I'm happy to have another go on my MacBookPro.
Can you both please update your signatures so I can see where you are coming from?
Then reply here with the exact issue and specs of what you are trying to do.

I am having the same problem. Downloaded, reinstalled, and relicensed LiveCode and continue to get "could not compile application class" when saving standalone for Android. I have a licensed product for IOS/Android and Mac/Win (4.6.2)
