Installing Apps with Apple Configurator 2

Post by marksmithhfx » Mon Mar 15, 2021 11:56 am

Hi,

I am sending appropriately signed ad-hoc app bundles to a client who is then installing them on his iPad using Apple Configurator 2. The process works well for someone who is moderately computer sophisticated but my client finds it somewhat challenging to follow all of the necessary steps. Here are the steps:

1. Download the app bundle I sent you in email to your downloads folder
2. Run Apple Configurator 2
3. Select your iPad device
4. Click the + sign in the menu bar
5. Select the “Apps” option
6. Click on the “Choose from my Mac…” button
7. Find and select the app bundle in your downloads folder
8. The app should now install on your iPad

Its all pretty straight forward but I was wondering if it would be possible to script this into an installer application that handles the details so that, for example, all he would have to do is double click on the downloaded file and it would install on his iPad (run Apple Configurator 2, select the file, send it to the selected device, etc). Any suggestions?

Thanks
Mark
