Rev Compiled Apps for Windows 3.1?

Post by Garrett » Wed Jul 19, 2006 9:23 pm

On the RunRev site, it states that a rev compiled app is capable of
running on Windows 3.1, but with some limitations.

Does this hold true for Rev 2.6.1 compiled apps?

What are the limitations?

Thanks,
-Garrett

Hi Garrett,

I was able to run a standalone created with Rev 2.0 in Win 3.11. It opened, but that was all it could do. Many features are unavailable in Win 3.11. I haven't tried it with later version of Rev and I doubt it will be useful with Win 3.1.

What would you use Win 3.1 for anyway, if not for sheer nostalgia?

Best,

Mark

That's about it, just for the nostalgia of it. Every once in a while I get the
urge to go retro and I'll bust out a 386 or something and either toss Win
3.1 on there or my old Geoworks Ensemble and just have fun. I still have
some dev tools for 16 bit stuff, but saw on the Rev site that it said that
compiled app could be run on Win 3.1 but with some limitations. Figured
if that was still true, then I could have a little fun with Win 3.1 and Rev.

No big deal though if it doesn't work on Win 3.1

Thanks,
-Garrett
