Samsung Remote Test Lab

Post by bamakojeff » Fri Jan 02, 2026 6:34 pm

Has anyone used Samsung's Remote Test Lab to test a Livecode Android app? (https://developer.samsung.com/remote-test-lab) I just discovered it, and it seems like a nice service. It's free for Samsung Developers (which is also free to sign up for), and it lets you upload your app over the internet to just about any model Samsung phone and test it out.

The only problem is that mobileOrientation() always reports the phone as being in "landscape - right". No matter which way you rotate the phone in Remote Test Lab, Livecode always reports the orientation as landscape - right. Not the worst thing in the world as I can still test the app once I rotate the phone to landscape - right so I can interact with it properly. But a bit peculiar.

Obviously, it does not do this on any physical Samsung phone I have tested on. And the apps on the phone (like chrome) all rotate correctly. So the other apps are correctly reading the orientation.

If anyone has seen this before or has any ideas, I would love to hear them. Again, the service is still useful for testing, but it would nice if Livecode and the phone agreed on what the orientation was.
