Favorite Pi Vendor for EDU folks in USA?

Post by Rauterkus » Sat Mar 12, 2016 11:02 pm

Hi,

Does anyone have any vendors to suggest? Looking for Raspberry Pi 3, case, SD card with NOOBS, etc.

Is there a trusted EDU vendor? Confidence.

Shipping from the UK seems costly.

Thanks.

I do most of my tech shopping at Newegg.com. The Pi 3 is in short supply everywhere in the States, but there's at least one bundle available at Newegg right now. Harder to find is the Zero - everyone's way backlogged for that with no reliable supply until April at the earliest.

Ordered.
I didn't see the SD disk and NOOBS. We'll see if that comes with the Pi 3.

My favorite vendor for both the hardware as well as a lot of very cool code and ideas is:

www.adafruit.com

Adafruit was founded in 2005 by MIT engineer, Limor "Ladyada" Fried. Her goal was to create the best place online for learning electronics and making the best designed products for makers of all ages and skill levels. Adafruit has grown to over 50 employees in the heart of NYC with a 15,000+ sq ft. factory. Adafruit has expanded offerings to include tools, equipment and electronics that Limor personally selects, tests and approves before going in to the Adafruit store
( https://www.adafruit.com/about/ )

They also happen to be the US partner for Genuino

Slower than NewEgg, a fraction of the offerings (no blenders, no snow blowers, etc)
But I like to go with the little guy.

MADE IN NYC, BABY!
