Livecode apps on rPi - using Konstakangs android

Post by MrFollies » Sat Jun 11, 2022 9:28 am

Just wondering if anyone has tried installing Konstakang's android12 port on rPi4 and then tried running livecode apps on it?

No.

But I have run 4 LiveCode apps-for-android on Bluestacks:

HOWEVER, what really tickles my fancy is whether one could leverage LiveCode itself to work on Android.

You mean running the IDE?

Who? Me? Yes.

The OP says "LiveCode apps", which I take to mean standalones.

I asked about that indirectly a while ago. Running the IDE on a phone or tablet would be impossible but I'm interested in running it on a Chromebook where there's a larger screen, keyboard and mouse. The answer was that it would be a huge undertaking, expensive, and not a top priority due to the handful of people who use Chromebooks.

In fact, I may be the only one.

I was under the impression that the roadmap includes a version is the IDE would be available on the web?
If that’s the case it would give access to all platforms - but maybe I got the wrong end of the stick…

Yeah, with some help from the mailing list I got Linux set up and was able to retrieve the Linux LC installer. But after installation every window acted like a different app and they didn't communicate with each other. Maybe it will work with the upcoming single window IDE.

Ouch.

I wonder if the 'single window IDE' is 'a single window' or several windows with their sides 'glued' together.

Not necessarily if one had a large tablet and a bluetooth /USB keyboard connected to it.

After all, to 'hack' a minimal revMenuBar and revTools stack is not a noticeably arduous task.

True. Then the last step would be to convince the team to rewrite the entire code base in Java.
