Hiding All the Furniture

I am wondering (?) about doing something fairly drastic with my Devawriter: not "just" implementing a fake backdrop (palettised stack that always stays behind the main stack) but also:
1. Mac: hiding the Dock and the MenuBar: easy: hide menubar.
2. Windows: hiding the Start Menu: easy: hide taskbar.
3. Linux: hide panels and all other types of desktop furniture: NOT easy at all, not obvious . . .
