Where did the Quick Search button in the Script Editor Go?

Post by CAsba » Fri Feb 16, 2024 12:30 pm

Hi all,
I had it but now it's not there. Looked in Edit > Preferences > Script Editor but nothing about quick search.

Hi.

Do you mean the "Find" field, that lies to the left of the "Next", "Previous", etc. buttons?

CAsba.

It was the "Preferences" that threw me. Mine is "Edit>Quick Find". I never even knew about that, always just using CMD-F. Have you restarted LC?

When the Search feature disappears from the bottom of my script editor window it invariably requires a new preferences file. I keep some already customized backups handy to save time since this happens with more regularity than seems reasonable... but with no recipe that I can see (yet.) The path to my preferences on MacOS is: /Users/scott/Library/Preferences/RunRev
Elementary Software
...now with 20% less chalk dust!

To find the LC prefs file I use LC itself with the message box:

Code: Select all

put the filename of stack "revpreferences"
Et voila, quit LC and trash that file. :-)

Mine is:
~/Library/Preferences/RunRev/livecode7.rev
Why does show "LiveCode7" of all things?

I believe that's a format specifier, noting the last time the Prefs data stored there underwent significant revision.

The recipe seems to be opening the advanced search with the More... button. Quick Find is hidden when the advanced search palette opens. If you close the palette with the close box, Quick Find does not reappear. But Cmd-F, or the Edit/Quick Find menu item, immediately brings it back.
