Re: 'Preference' menu palette freezes at first choice
Can you explain a bit more, and tell us which operating system you are using LC on?
Re: 'Preference' menu palette freezes at first choice
Thank-you, Richmond !
[ Mac OS 10.14.6
16g RAM
2.8 G processor
MBPro 2014 ]
Preference pane
Can scroll through icons on left field but not referring cards on right
If I select an icon at left, it hi-lights, then a corresponding card appears on right.
If I select a different icon on left, it hi-lights; but no change of card on right.
Workaround is to close prefs menu and reopen.
Upon reopen, selected icon still selected with (now visible) its corresponding card.
Acts like menu script not breaking out of “Switch” handler.

Do you still have any backscripts inserted?
I would guess this is related to the problem you had with the message box being covered with strange objects, which I gathered was a consequence of backscript not behaving as you expected. It may well be hijacking IDE stacks unintentionally.
If that is the case, I sincerely doubt a backscript is what you really need. I understand the reasoning for them, but I have *never* needed one for an application developed to be a standalone. You might well find a library script in a substack (or script only stack) will be much less problematic for you.

Thank-you, Sparkout and Richmond !
It had never occurred to me not to use back scripts, since my scripts are not very tightly-wound logically; lots of word salad and probably inefficiency.
However, until I can sharpen this skill, I'll try to do without back or front scripts.
I have created a screenshot video of the Preferences Menu behavior, which is viewable as unlisted in my YouTube account.
