How to post an image

Post by dunbarx » Sun Apr 04, 2021 7:26 pm

I promised Richmond i would post images in the clear.

But when I place an Image between what I thought were the appropriate tags:
"img][/img"
I still get a link, and not an embedded picture.

How do you place the actual image?

Craig

Actually, there are a LOT of ways to post an image

You could do what Klaus mentioned, or....
...simply drag an image into the text area your composing your post in or...

...use the tags you mentioned correctly, like so....

Code: Select all

[img]https://your.image.here[/img]
...or upload it to an image service if it is really large (post image is free and doesn't require a sign up or any information, AND provides you with a forum thumbnail link that works (!!)...)

...and of course a few other ways, really, the choice is yours ;)

Klaus, Bogs.

I am not new to this, you know.

I do upload stacks and images now and then, but always simply by placing them in-line. This gives a link in the post. I have tried to place both the the pathname within the "img" brackets, but I still got a link.

I am asking how to, as many here do, place an image directly, so that anyone opening my post sees the image "in-line" and not have to open a link. I suspect I am missing something.

Klaus told you one way to do that, I told you 3 other ways to do that, and while I don't assume you are 'new' to this, I assume there is something about the 4 methods presented that was somehow 'unclear' to you, but what it could be I have no idea. Do you want a picture illustration?

Ultimately, if you want a picture to show in line in a post, you have to have 3 things, an image uploaded to a server, the address to that image, and a set of image tags properly formatted, and that is it.

You won't see the image being "inline" in the post until you either hit the [Preview] button, or [Submit], but it would be in there once you do either of those.

Both.

OK, I am pretty sure I did what you said before, and only the link appeared. But I tried it just now, and the image appeared.

I guess I did not actually do this before.

Thanks,

Craig
