I spend most of the day coding on a new idea.
All was going well, until I noticed my breakpoints weren't catching.
The tooltip told me that this was because the Script Debug Mode was off.

So i turned it on, and the whole development environment instantly crashed.
This is with version 5.5, which is as far as my license goes.

Here's the really odd thing. The happens every time. Even with a new stack.
I create a new stack. Drag a button over. Go to edit the code-- Apply.
All is fine. Then as soon as I switch ON the Script Debug Mode. Poof.
Instant crash. I've tried everything I can think of, dozens of ways.
But I just can't figure this out. Help!

This happens with Version 5.5, 5.1, & even 4.6.

Do you have any plug-ins installed? Are you using a completely clean installation of LiveCode? Make sure that you haven't opened the dictionary, preferences or any other IDE windows. Check that you don't have any pending messages, front scripts, back scripts, stacks in use, externals etc, and test again. You might want to remove the LiveCode folder that's in your documents folder temporarily. Does this also happen if immediately turn on script debugging? Can you post a screenshot of LiveCode in crashed state or does it disappear completely immediately? Most important of everything: which operating system?

Thanks Mark! I appreciate your detailed instructions.
I went ahead and installed the current Community edition and now, ALL version seem to work okay.
Now, back to coding...
