SMS Message from within a LiveCode App?

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to know if anyone could confirm if the mobileComposeTextMessage command sends the SMS from within an app or if the user has to leave the LiveCode app and go the the devices SMS screen. If it does, is there anyway to send a SMS Message from within a LiveCode app?

These forums have been very helpful so far, and thanks in advance for your help.

The SMS message is sent from within your app... when sending email or an SMS, after it has been sent ,control is returned to your app... this however is not the case when you make a phone call... after the call is finished the 'phone' app quits and you are then placed into the 'front screen' of your phone...

Can LiveCode now handle incoming SMS Text messages?

I want to create an Android App which both sends and receives SMS Texts Messages

also where is the documentation relating to text Messaging in LiveCode?
I don't mean the Dictionary but a proper write up of this feature?

I am find it next to impossible to learn LiveCode due to lack of free / open learning Material - I don't understand how LiveCode is supposed to gain popularity when the software is free but the learning resources are charged for.
I think a lot of the KickStarter backers probably feel let down - I'm sure loads got a huge shock when they learn't it wouldn't be free to use LiveCode to publish to iOS.

I had such high hopes of LiveCode :-(

When you give away the product, you have to charge for something to stay in business. But there are free resources. You can start here:

http://livecode.byu.edu/indexgeneric.php
https://sites.google.com/a/pgcps.org/livecode/home
http://www.hyperactivesw.com/revscriptc ... ences.html

And of course, there's always us. The forums and the mailing list are your best source of info. Search for any question you may have and the chances are very high that someone else has already asked it and the answer is here. Here are the mailing list archives that you can search also:

Oops, I forgot the free learning materials on the RunRev site itself. They are generous with their lessons and tutorials. Have you looked there?

And here's a couple more:

There's also lost of good info here:

http://www.sonsothunder.com/devres/live ... vecode.htm

There's plenty of good tutorials and information out there, sometimes it requires a bit of digging to find exactly what you need.
There's a list of some livecode related sites here :

http://piratepad.be/p/LiveCode_Resource_Collection

The above link is no where near complete, but between all of these links there's probably all the information you will need to get started on any livecode project.

If you have any suggestions or input on how to improve the documentation, a new forum section just opened up for that sort of thing:
