As far as Why? I really don't know the deeper mechanisms in liveCode to tell you about the subtle differences between the Edit and Browse tool. In browse it looks like that repeat loop is blocking.

If you meant preOpenStack I don't see why that code would affect it....because of the "on preopenCard" handler
